First Friday Celebrations in Downtown Elizabethton

25 Apr 2021

April 25, 2021 – Main Street Elizabethton, Elizabethton Arts & Cultural Alliance, and the City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department are excited to present First Friday Celebrations in Downtown Elizabethton this summer from May until August. Everyone is invited to celebrate the arts and community through live music, interactive art, extended shopping, unique dining experiences and more!

First Friday Celebrations will kick-off May 7 starting at 9:00 AM and continuing into the evening until 11:00 PM. Activities are complementary to the community and open for all ages. For the celebration opener, alternative country and soulful electric band, 49 Winchester, will play at Covered Bridge Stage from 7 PM – 9 PM! This feature is brought to you by the City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department.

Featured activities include:

  • Elizabethton Chamber will host the Music and Miles Half Marathon packet pick-up from 5 PM – 7 PM, followed by a Demo Run at 7:30 PM.
  • The Coffee Company will be open for dinner from 5 PM – 7 PM, featuring Archives & Art!, an art show pairing archival footage of Downtown, courtesy of Kent Edens, with a new downtown gallery themed around weird art, Birdhouse Studio. Exodus Collaborative, a local farm, will also host a mini-market in front of the Coffee Company to sell local produce and showcase the benefits of supporting local farmers.
  • The Elizabethton Arts and Cultural Alliance will host a Gratitude Art Project at Sweetsie Treatz from 10 AM – 6 PM. The ElizAlliance will also partner with Carter County Drug Prevention, PEAK Mentorship, Red Legacy Recovery, and Future Innovators to provide interactive art projects in each downtown breezeway. The Breezeway next to Sweetsie Treatz will be designated as a Teen Art Hub, featuring chalk art and “Make a Colonial Whirgig” activity. The Breezeway next to Jiggy Ray’s will be designated as a Children’s Art Hub, featuring Liberty! Artwork and coloring book activities. Liberty! actors will also be walking around downtown throughout the event for live history performances and information.

More than 20 downtown businesses will be open for extended shopping and dine-in experiences, as well as local food trucks and live dance performances by local studios! Visit mainstreetelizabethton.com/firstfriday for a full schedule of May 7 First Friday activities.
